Failure is delay, not defeat

Success takes time, and for these and other reasons, many people give up on their dreams at the slightest resistance. Maybe things didn’t go right the first time around or the way you planned. The truth is the beginning stages are always the hardest. When you’re having a tough time in life, it can be hard to see the good in any situation.  You start to believe that nothing can change, and you begin to feel ‘stuck.’ Maybe things didn’t work out the way you expected. Perhaps the right opportunities never came along. Failure leads to multiple learning opportunities that help us become who we are. Feeling ‘stuck’ comes from a place of fear and limits. When you say, “yes,” to your limits, you are saying “no” to your possibilities. Choose to be empowered by failure instead of weakened by it. It is better to endure hardships live a life you desire than to live a forced life. Failure appears to have more of an impact on our lives based on what we believe.  By …

Why habits are the invisible architecture of success

If you feel like you’re constantly ‘putting out fires’ in your daily life and unable to meet expectations todays post is for you. I used to wonder how some people get ahead of others and it simply boils down to habits. Habits are behaviors we perform on a daily or otherwise regular basis. They’re not just any behaviors, though. A behavior is a habit if some component of it is at least somewhat “automatic.” Some studies estimate that habits make up 40% of our everyday behavior. With a habit, there’s some cue that triggers a behavior. Habits are not routines but more like coping mechanisms that we have put in place to subconsciously produce a dopamine like appeal in our day. We’re not about judging habits. However, if you have specific goals in mind that you have put effort into but are not producing  results, it is recommended that your habits be the first place to look for signs of trouble. What are you doing to achieve your goals? If there is something that you …

Setting boundaries for your best life

This post is inspired by my stress and wavering faith to stay motivated. As humans, it is in our nature to become attached and letting go seems trivial and difficult. However, any relationship (friendship, romantic, or work ) that does not have a balance or produce good vibes should not be allowed into your ‘threshold.’ I had a hectic weekend and after all of the latest challenges to enter my life, I haven’t been feeling quite motivated to keep going. Life is funny in that way. The reality is our lives can change in an instance.  In one moment things are moving along like a well-oiled engine and then the next, BAM! You get hit with a ton of bricks and are left picking up the pieces. We all have limits. You are human and you have needs. The longer you go on putting those needs ahead of others the more you will lose yourself. Think of in terms of a scale. If you keep allowing the people around to handle you their problems or ‘rocks’ as my …

6 questions to ask yourself when you feel ‘stuck’ in your career

Car didn’t start this morning… Lost your wallet… Didn’t get the job you want… Whatever it is that your battling. Life’s discontentment has the power to leave us all feeling helpless and sometimes ‘stuck.’ One of the biggest mistakes we make is relying on our minds to tell us who we during those moments. I know you’re thinking, “Well my mind knows what I want.” However, I beg to differ. Your biggest enemy can be your thoughts. What you think you ultimately become. Once you start to believe something it impacts your thoughts and your thoughts impact your actions. The reason for this is because your subconscious has a “safety zone.” According to acclaimed financial guru Dave Ramsey our minds have comfort levels. He explains in, Total Money Makeover, that that is why it is hard to make a change. Your brain learns your patterns and if you decide to take a new job or lose weight you may not get the boost you need from your thoughts. That is why reinforcement is crucial and by …

The benefits of having engaged employees

The current trend is to job hop, so don’t feel alone if you are having a hard time figuring out what you want to do. According to a recent Gallup poll millennials are least engaged at work with at least 60 percent being open to a new job opportunity. With the average tenure of a millennial employee being 2 years. Loving what you do has major benefits. One of them being more opportunities.  You will spend your time focused on what you’re doing and give it your best. Research has again when we hate our jobs we are not engaged and our productivity levels suffer. Now while I would love to see everyone in a real job they loved we live in a world where that is not being realistic. It may take time before you land a job you love but that doesn’t mean you can’t choose to be engaged in who are and what you are doing right n now. After all, what if you are right where you are meant to be? Now, …

Why you should forgive yourself for past mistakes

Dwelling in the past requires an insurmountable amount of energy that only leads to repeat occurrences. What you think about the most will become a reality. Our thoughts drive our actions. Dwelling on your past can keep you from making any kind of progress. No matter what stage you are at in life, you can still have a successful future. If you are constantly replaying past events looking for new ways to solve them then you’re missing out on opportunities. An opportunity presents itself daily. And not in the form of a fairy godmother granting wishes just you and the willpower to live your life on your terms. Bottom line: You have the power to achieve, create, and become the vision you have for your life, self and career.  Everything is on the table. No dream is off limits.  Stop being a victim of your high expectations and the events that you can never change. Not because you’re not awesome but because there is no going back. Heartbreak, disappointment, and failures can leave us all …

Happiness is a choice

“Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.” ~Dalai Lama Life may not be going your way Happiness is not a place, person, or thing. Happiness is accepting your imperfections and quirkiness. Also accepting where you are but keeping faith and believing that you will get to be to where you want to be. Happiness is an emotion. It can not be found it must be felt. If you think that changing something in your life will make you feel happier, then do it. My mother is 50 years old going back to college because she finally found her passion and it’s making her happy. Never give up. You have to constantly, boldly, and deliberately take hold of your thoughts and feelings. Redirect your thoughts from negativity to prosperity and success. It is up to you to dare to choose and radiate outward with your thinking what you really wish to experience. Don’t let life just happen to you, you happen to life. Happiness plays a major role in success …
